DG Yasir Pirzada’s Reforms Transform PSB: Annual Report

Islamabad: The Pakistan Sports Board’s Annual Report 2024–25 documents a major institutional transformation of PSB since Muhammad Yasir Pirzada assumed charge as Director General.
According to the report , the first comprehensive PSB annual report in two decades, the Board has shifted from routine administration to a performance-driven, transparent and athlete-centered institution.
Key outcomes highlighted in the report include revival of the Quaid-e-Azam Inter-Provincial Games after seven years with 2,725 athletes, and establishment of the Arshad Nadeem High-Performance Academy along with Pakistan’s first Biomechanics Laboratory.
The report notes a 90 percent increase in PSB’s self-generated revenue, stricter financial discipline, and a zero-tolerance policy on complimentary memberships. Major governance reforms were introduced, including Sports Election Regulations Pakistan (SERP), QR-coded NOCs, biometric attendance in training camps, merit-based selections, and transparent grant mechanisms for federations.
In clean sports, the Pakistan Anti-Doping Board was strengthened with expanded testing and awareness programmes. During the year, PSB organized training camps for 847 athletes and increased specialized diet allowance from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 per athlete per day.
Administratively, PSB moved toward digital governance through E-Office, pre-audit systems, appointment of a Chief Financial Officer, and integration with PPRA’s E-PADS procurement platform.
